Equity, Engagement & Nutrition: Innovations Empowering the Underserved

Many Americans lack access to affordable, nutritious food, leading to high rates of chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, stroke, and diabetes. Our expert panel will share solutions and strategies to improve health equity, reduce healthcare costs and alleviate the adverse impact of limited access to healthy food.

 

   

 

Romilla Batra, MD, MBA

Chief Medical Officer, SCAN Health Plan

Romilla sets clinical policies and procedures, oversees clinical programs, and helps design initiatives supporting healthy, independent aging. She also works with SCAN’s provider partners to advance senior care practices.

In addition, Romilla leads Independence at Home, a SCAN community service that provides vitally needed services and support to seniors and their caregivers throughout California regardless of plan membership.

 

Romilla is a board-certified internist with over 20 years of experience as a medical director, clinician and educator. Before joining SCAN, she was the director of ambulatory internal medicine and associate program director for medicine residency at the University of California, Irvine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at UCLA and earned her MBA at UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business, where she continues to teach on the faculty.

Leah Brucchieri

Director, Medicare Research and Innovation, Humana

Leah is responsible for designing new and innovative benefits to address social determinants of health, close gaps in care, slow the progression of disease and help seniors live their best lives while keeping healthcare affordable. With over 15 years of experience in the health insurance industry, Leah’s background includes medical cost and trend analytics, provider contracting, network adequacy and access analytics, operations, and benefit design. This experience has instilled Leah with a passion and drive to improve the health of the communities Humana serves by addressing barriers that impede access to basic needs as well as healthcare.

Lauren Driscoll

Founder & CEO, NourishedRx

Lauren founded NourishedRx to support health plans’ efforts to address their members’ most actionable and critical non-clinical needs — nutrition and social isolation. Lauren formerly led the Medicare business at Oxford Health Plans and served as a Principal at Leavitt Partners focused on Medicare. She has an MPH from Columbia University and a BA from the University of Virginia.
